Discovering Antigua in a jeep is the most exciting way of doing it. You'll come off the beaten track and plunge into the luxuriant tropical forest, before coming out to view the magnificent panoramas of the Caribbean coast and stopping for a swim. You'll drive through the most authentic small villages and past abandoned refineries that bear witness to the golden age of the sugar industry.

A speedboat takes you out to the zone where you'll meet pastenague rays. These strange and gracious creatures swirl around you, even non-swimmers can stroke them as they like the shallow water.

Welcome to a captivating and fabulously beautiful lunar landscape. The aptly named fire mountains constantly smoke and glow. The volcanic formations create fantastic natural features such as El Golfo and its jade green lagoon, and Janubio. As you travel through Timanfaya national park, you'll be astonished by the harmonious geometry of the vineyards and fig tree plantations.

A visit to the "Ver-o-Peso" market, the largest in Latin America, is an excellent introduction to the animals and plants, exotic fruit, vegetables and fish of the Amazon, followed by the botanical gardens and zoo.
The 17th century Forte do Castelo has a magnificent view of the bay. You'll stop to admire Our Lady of Nazareth, a Basilica built on the model of St Peters of Rome.

The longest of the Grenadine Islands has some surprising architecture in store. As you head towards the Isle à Quatre, you'll spot a string of tropical troglodyte houses, villas built in the hippy era. The beach and snorkelling are sheer paradise.

Excursion available with your cruise booking A classic trip to see the major sites of the capital, including Plaza de Mayo, with the Town Hall, the Parliament and the Cathedral. You'll visit San Telmo (the tango district), colourful Caminito street, la Boca (the historic port), the chic Barrio Norte with its wide avenes and parks, and the Recoleta with the cemetry where Eva Peron is buried.

The Parc des Mamelles is both a botanical and a zoological garden, where you can make the most of the fabulously exuberant nature. A sanctuary of unusual plants and animals, the canopy route (optional) is something everyone can do and enjoy. The second walk takes you to the Crayfish Falls.

A mountain chain covered with thick forest runs the length of Dominica. The island's numerous springs shape waterfalls and rivers. You'll sail past the fabulous arborescent ferns, hibiscus and fromagers, before retiring to a little bar where the island's most striking cocktail - "Dynamite" - awaits you.

Flower Island is a fabulous natural site. After visiting Fort-de-France's miniature "Sacré Coeur of Montmartre", you'll discover the fabulous biodiversity of the Caribbean thanks to the unique botanical gardens. You'll be amazed at the fabulous views and sensations from the city's bridges, suspended 52 ft high, and end the visit with some shopping at the market.
