Chichen Itzá… Is the worldwide most known pre-Columbian city in the northern Yucatán; its astonishing monumental architecture tells the history of its occupation by the pre-Hispanic Maya and Toltec culture. The famous Kukulkan Pyramid, the largest Mesoamerican Ball Court and the Astronomical Observatory are only a few of the magnificent structures found within the site. Since 1988, Chichen Itza is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 2007 it was elected as one of the New 7 Wonders of the world.
Ex-Convent “San Bernardino de Siena”… Built in 1552 in the city of Valladolid, was the first seat of the Franciscan order in the Yucatan Peninsula. The convent is a testimony of the Maya evangelization at the time of the Spanish conquest. Later, it was used as an important strategic point during the Rebellion of the Yucatan native population against the white community; historically referred to as “The Cast War”.
