I am traveling to CI with my husband and son, who will be 8 when we go. We are planning to relax on the beach, do some land and ocean sports and do a lot of snorkeling with my son.

We have always enjoyed leisurely morning walks to breakfasts and the end of the evening walks back to the room in the larger CM resorts, so that isn't an issue, but just wanted to get an idea of where we should request our room to be.

We don't expect to spend a lot of time there, and, again, don't mind a little walk, but do want it to be quiet, and relatively accessible to the resorts amenities.

Any input would be great!

Thanks! Melissa

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but....
Looking at the village from over the water in front there are about 1/3 of the rooms to the left, then the village center, then the other 2/3 of the rooms to the right of village center. At the right end of the village is the Sea Center (diving, snorkeling, exercise room, disco). The sailing shack (sailing, windsurfing, kayaks, SUPs) is about 3/4 of the way from the village center to the Sea Center.
Distance wise, on our last visit we were in the last building (4 rooms per building) away from the village center, almost next to the Sea Center, and we clocked the walk from the main restaurant to our room as right at 1/2 mile taking the covered walkways, which zig-zag around a little. Tennis courts are mostly behind village center, slightly to the left side. Water skiing is on the beach at almost the very left end of the village.
We spend most of our time at the sailing shack, so we ask to be on the Sea Center side of the village. The village is rather spread out along the beach, probably taking a total distance of very close to a mile from end to end. Rooms close to the village center might get some noise and we got a little noise from the disco a couple of nights because we were very close to the Sea Center with the disco.
For more information you might want to check my trip report from last year with lots of photos in a picture album. Go to http://www.hammocktree.us/ms/trips.html and scroll down to the Columbus Isle 2012 report.

Thanks for the info. We plan on snorkeling daily, so it sounds like we want to be on the Sea Center side, but not too close to it so as to avoid the noise from the disco.
