I stayed at Cherating in 2007. None of the rooms are really that noisy, especially if you aren't on the main floor. I stayed in the first building on the other side of the pool and restaurant area. I was on the third floor and it is very close to everything and was completely quiet. The GM rooms are on one side of the building and the GO rooms are on the other. I believe that I posted a photo of the room in the Cherating pic site.
There have been several threads on this, some going back to 2005. Check the Cherating forum for complete information.
BTW, if anyone is traveling to Cherating from long distances and has to overnight in Singapore, I highly recommend the Ambassador Transit Hotel. It is in the airport itself, one hotel in each wing, and it is very cheap and convenient, $39 US for 8 hours. You don't go through customs and you can't pick up your luggage, but I was arriving at midnight and had to leave at 7:00 AM so it was perfect for me. I also checked my luggage straight through from Chicago to Kuantan, and it was the second piece delivered. What a relief.

PS: Cherating is a very beautiful club. I had a great time there.
