Hello, does anyone know what vaccinations are being recommended for Bintan Island? Club Med call centre couldn't answer my question. Travel clinics are of course very defensive in their answer, recommending all possible vaccinations for Sumatra.
I suppose if you stay in the resort, you should be OK. However, we are planning to do trips like the Mangrove tour where there can be a lot of mosquitos. Is there a malaria risk on Bintan Island?
Are there any GO's who have worked on Bintan who can tell me what CM recommended them?
Thanks,
Amalia

Have you checked the information on CM's web page?

I would also recommend that you go to the CDC website. That's the Center for Disease Control. I believe that it is cdc.gov.

Malaria is always a risk in the topics. I would certainly take mosquito repellent along. I have found Deep Woods Off with 100% DEET to be very effective. It gives you 11 hour protection, but must be washed off after that time. When I went to Malaysia I had hepatitis A and B vaccinations, but there are multiple injections several months apart.

At the club there should be no problems.
