Hi All,

Has anyone been scuba diving in Bintan? What was it like?

If not - has anyone been snorkelling?

And lastly - what is the weather like in Feb?

Thanks,
Laura

Laura,

the Club has a Euro divers but I wasn't too impressed by the diving, seen better, but it didn't suck. If anything, you can say you dove the South China sea. There weren't too many fish or coral come to think about it. In Feb. however it is winter and the seas are rough! Bintan has a very dangerous rip tide on the left side of the beach. Very dangerous and very deadly. They have at least one death per year because if this rip tide and despite the signs posted everywhere.
All this to say that the vis may not be the greatest in the winter. I dove in the summer. When I was last there in Dec 2002, CM didn't offer snorkelling there. maybe they do now, I don't know.

Yes, they offered snorkelling when i was there in 2004.

The snorkelling is nothing great . But it is fun for beginners if you want to go for a boat ride as well and take pictures of the Village as the boat returns towards the dock .

February is the start of the hot season but expect some showers.
