Club Med Bintan Island

To continue from the previous topic, vote here for your fave GOs. No particular criteria, it could be a friendly personality, a sweet smile, a hot bod, the ability to teach sports etc etc (who needs reasons anyway!?) Oh well, Madi, in case you were wondering, I was in Cherating 4 times last year - definitely a great team. I'd stopped going to Club Med for a couple of years before that as the GO teams were quite disappointing, but last year, Cherating, Phuket and Faru restored my faith in Club Med!

Ok this is my first posting here, but Maukitten and I were pleasantly surprised when we just got to know we were at CM Bintan over the New Year, and I'm thrilled to have found this active forum!!

As for fave GOs, it will have to be Bazz, met him at Cherating and Bintan. Since I've only been on CM vacations twice, don't know more of them well enough...but I sure hope to soon...

Madi, since Bazz is one of your good friends, please could you help, what's the best way to get/stay in touch with Bazz? Would be grateful for any suggestions :)

well last word from Glenn is that he's working in Sentosa, Singapore...in one of the hotels as a bartender along with Andrew..another ex-GO from Singapore...

Madi, is Chris from New Zealand? Mini Club in Cherating last season? Last I heard he was looking for a job in tv in either KL or Singapore. And Kevin? Is he Malaysian?

Gheston is really funny - we were standing next to him during the countdown to New Year and during some of the shows, and were pissing ourselves silly at some of his comments.

Yup, Rotto seems like a tough one, but I guess the sports team GOs' only consolation is that he works himself just as hard or even harder.

Yes Maukitten, chris is from Newzealand. I have seen him since he left club med, when i was there, which was really good! Yeah Gheston is so funny. When i was in cherating in the summer, i was staying for 3 weeks, and we went out to Beach Bar loads of times. One night we all came back, and decided to go swimming at like 5.00am, and gheston was sooo drunk, he was swimming with his underwear on, and he got out the pool, sat down on the floor, threw up all over himself, passed out, and we all had 2 carry him back 2 his room! hahah. A few nights later, exactly the same thing happened again! haha

By the way, im going 2 Bintan on the 31st January. Is anyone from the Forum going 2 be there?

GO Rotto is Chef of Sports Team now. Anyone know where is GO Mario (from Jakarta) who was the Chef of Bintan Sports Team in 2003 ?
It seems that the current Bintan GO Team is great. It is better for me to go to Bintan instead of Faru in March 2004.
I really want to add some more GOs up to ten. However, I am afraid that I may add another "ten" and then another "ten" ....

I think Taiwan GO Liga is in Bintan now. But, the discussion board Taiwan Club Med website is closed on 2003-12-31. Therefore I cannot leave a message to Liga in the discussion board. The discussion board will reopen after Chinese New Year, may be at the end of Jan 2004.
May be Rotto is very busy.

When i met wayne, it was 2002 July. i was staying in cherating for about 3 and a half weeks. Ive never gotten along with some1 so well in my life. Wayne has like exactly the same personality as me, so we got along great. hehe. Do u know Indra well? hes a v. good mate of mine, we speak everyday haha. DO u play tennis by any chance? haha.

Hmmm ... looks like everyone who's a regular on this site has voted already. Friends, we need more people who go to the club meds in Asia onto this forum!!

Ok then, if we have exhausted this topic already, I'll still count the final tally of votes next Monday. I have a few ideas about what we can talk about next :

1. Apart from the GOs, what are the things you miss most about Club Med when you get home from a vacation? Chocolate bread? Crazy signs like "Muevelo"?

2. How many of us get withdrawal symptoms like mine - get home from Club Med and still keep checking my watch to see what's happening at the Club and think to myself wistfully "it's time for water aerobics/dance floor/pool games/the show in the theatre" etc etc. I think I am extremely pathetic ...

Any other topics to fill our time till Zenis goes to Phuket and gets back to us with an update of the GOs there?

I met indra in Bintan. Surprisingly, my phone bill isnt too bad. lol we only speak on the phone like twice a week, and like we text each other and email too. So thats good.

Maukitten, you wouldnt happen to know that crazysign, i think its from Thailand or something, and in cherating rotto used to do it quite a lot. the only words i know are: la la la la la la la la la HEY. haha. Do u have a copy of that song?

Alamak! He mentioned that himself, ie that he took part in the Asian Games. But having said that, he did mention milking cows too.

So, he's a national archer, artist, farmer - gosh - many hidden talents!

But he is a very good archery instructor! Wish I had more time for archery - must go back this season!! See how dangerous these trains of thought are? From archery to farming to going back to Bintan this season???

I remember that there is Sports Ceremony in Bali and Phuket. The Chef introduce each GO one by one, then the GOs give sports medals or certificates to GMs. Is there similar ceremony in Bintan ? If yes, on every Friday night or Saturday night ?

Glenn left Cherating sometime in July, I think. We've since heard conflicting stories as to his whereabouts - one version was that he's now in Kabira, and the other in Sentosa.

Anyone care to shed some light on the matter? This is Glenn (Singaporean) the former bar GO who was in Cherating last season.

I spoke to bazz yesterday, and unfortunately he wont be moving to cherating anymore. There were some problems at immagration. He is now moving to Bali in a few days.

These are all my favorite GOs that I've gotten to know over the 4 years that I've been going to Club Med.

I have only been to CM once (cherating) but my favourite GOs were
Aily – from KL, I think she was only part time but really cool and funny
Gloria – from Indonesia, she ran the ‘teens club’ when I was there and is the biggest legend
Joey from Indonesia he did like yoga and gym stuff and he was a champ too.
And mike from golf was cool too.

I think Hammer is great. I've been at the club when he was CdS and CdV.

When he was CdS he did a great job with the Pro Volleyball Week. If you don't know about Pro Volleyball Week it happens once a year in January usually at Turquoise. AVP pros come from California and play with the GMs, have clinics, party, etc. It's amazing. Hammer was the CdS at the first one I went too and it was great.

When he was CdV I spent 30 days at Cancun. You get to know the GOs well when you spend 30 days! He was a ton of fun along with his wife Julie. They made my stay a real pleasure with their great attitude.

Hi guys, im not sure if i posted at the wrong topic, but some of you guys stay for weeks at CM, how much does it costs for say 2 week stay?

sprites: you should look on the Club Med website: www.clubmed.com for the answer to that. It depends on which village you go to. If the village has 3 or 4 tridents, it will be more expensive. But just go look at the village u want to to go and the website will say how much it costs.

RHYS- (Circus GO) I met him in cherating(aug/sept 2005) and he is from Australia.
PAUL aka POLSKI- (Circus GO) I met him in cherating(aug/sept 2005) and he is also from Australia.
ADRIAN- (Circus GO) I met him in January 2004 at phuket and saw him again in aug/sept 2005 at cherating and he is from Indonesia (i think).
